Hurricane Heat AvailableRun with the Spartan race Founders & Staff

Hurricane HeatThe Spartan Hurricane Heat is a special opportunity that gives athletes the chance to meet and run with the Founders and staff of Spartan Race in a unique and memorable way. Usually held early Saturday morning or Friday night (Head lamps and glow sticks required!), you'll be put on a team, and you'll finish as a team. No timing chips, no clock, no bells and whistles.

We'll run the course backwards, sideways, or while carrying our buddies, but one thing is for certain: no two Hurricane Heats will be the same. This is what Spartan Race is all about… getting up when you’re knocked down and finishing what you start.

Successful finishers earn Hurricane Heat dogtags, a finisher shirt, a Hurricane Heat badge, entry into a closed networking group, and the chance to build relationships that will last well beyond the finish line.

Start time: Arrive Saturday morning at 5:30am, be ready to go at 6:00am SHARP. Don't be late!

Notes From The Race DirectorWhat To Expect

This course is going to be awesome (assuming awesome means steep and treacherous).

The course is around 5.0 miles of hills. This is our hardest sprint race because of how steep and treacherous the terrain is. It’s harder and longer than last year. Race smart and watch your foot placement!

There will be two water stations on course. It’s going to be close to 90 degrees on race days. Most of you will take well over an hour to do this course, many over two hours. Plan your nutrition and hydration accordingly. You will be thirsty. Don’t be that racer who bonks because you didn’t come prepared. I would definitely carry water with me on the course.

Do not litter on the course.

Follow the marking arrows and marking tape, never assume the person in front of you knows where they are going! Do not modify or remove the marking tape!

It is OK to pass other racers on the course, including on tight single-track trails. Simply let them know what side you are passing on (e.g. “On your left”) and say some supportive words as you pass by.

Don’t forget your ID to check-in at Registration. You must have it. Along those lines, make sure you read the Racer Packet that was put together for more information on what to expect.

A chairlift to the top of the mountain will be available for all racers and spectators.

Getting to the venue can be tricky, make sure you know where you are going!

Most importantly, race safe and have a blast!
